On January 3, 2022, the IBF sent an invitation to Hrgović and Luis Ortiz to enter talks for a final title eliminator. Hrgović immediately accepted the offer, with his promoters stating: “Challenge accepted by Filip Hrgovic, days and counting for Luis Ortiz to accept”. Ortiz refused, citing inability to compete due to injury. The IBF then invited the next highest ranked heavyweight contender, Joseph Parker, to enter talks for a title eliminator bout. Parker refused to enter talks as well, due to recovering from injuries. On January 10, the same invitation was extended to Tony Yoka. Yoka accepted the offer on January 13. The fight was supposed to be a rematch of their 2016 Summer Olympics semi-final bout, which Yoka narrowly won on points. The IBF later ruled Yoka ineligible to enter an agreement with any opponent other than Martin Bakole, as the two had already signed contracts to face each other. On January 26, both Andy Ruiz Jr. and Murat Gassiev received invitations to enter into negotiations with Hrgović, which they refused five days later, citing lingering injuries as the reason for refusal. On February 7, it was revealed that the #13 ranked Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang had accepted the invitation to enter into negotiations with Hrgović.

Monica Turner became one of the few who did not turn away from Mike then. After all the years of imprisonment, the girl visited Mike in prison, and after his release, the couple married, but their marriage did not last long – only six years. After the divorce, he disappeared and tattooed a portrait of his wife, over which the boxer put a new drawing.

The now 40-year-old won bronze medals at the 2007 and 2009 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics, all in the super heavyweight division. Zhang also featured at the 2012 London Games where his interest was ended at the quarter final stage by a certain Anthony Joshua who, of course, went on to take gold.

It’s a pretty basic tattoo and while you can see the resemblance to Turner, it’s not exactly a work of art. It also helps that the tattoo is on the inside of Tyson’s forearm so it’s not the most visible, meaning he doesn’t have to worry about people seeing it all the time.

“This is what we’re here for, we’re professional fighters. We came to entertain the crowd and we did it. I hope everyone enjoyed my performance. Thank you to everyone who came here today and witnessed my greatness in front of Chinese social media.”

Mike Tyson takes meticulous care of his famous facial tattoo to keep it crisp and bright. Tattoo care includes regular moisturizing of the skin with special creams to prevent flaking and fading. Tyson also avoids prolonged sun exposure and uses sunscreen with a high degree of protection to protect the tattoo from UV rays that can damage the pigments. Regular visits to the tattoo artist for corrections and line updates help maintain the original look and brightness of the tattoo. This kind of care allows Tyson to keep his tattoo in perfect condition, making it an extension of his unique and recognizable image. Mike Tyson face tattoo removal has never been considered, as it has become an integral part of his personality and a symbol of his transformation.

The fight was originally scheduled for July 20, but postponed because of a recent ulcer flare-up for the 57-year-old Tyson. According to a representative, Tyson became dizzy and nauseated while flying from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26. Paramedics boarded the plane upon landing to assist him. Doctors subsequently advised Tyson to do minimal to no training in the coming weeks, upsetting the original timeline for the fight.

Joe Joyce won the WBO Interim World Heavyweight title in a September 2022 bout against Joseph Parker. Zhang’s last bout before facing Joyce was in August 2022 when he suffered his first loss to Croatian Filip Hrgović, after a close-fought battle where he lost by unanimous decision in what was described as a “generous” decision by broadcaster Sky Sports after a “bizarre” performance by Hrgović.

It’s important to note that the interpretation of a tattoo can be deeply personal and subjective. Tyson’s face tattoo carries different meanings for different people, and its significance may have evolved over time. Regardless of the specific meaning, Tyson’s tattoo has left a lasting impact on popular culture and has become an integral part of his identity as a boxer and public figure.

“In the 1970s, the managers Jacobs and Cayton were funding the training camps of Cus D’Amato. In 1980, they got Mike Tyson and I really started working with him in 1985. : sparring, medicals, interviews, training, the weigh-in before the fight, after the fight, food, transportation. We had eight sparring partners, each guy getting $2,500 a week. That’s an immense amount of money and the reason was because word got around that in sparring, Mike was bad (laughs). With all due respect, Mike’s sparring partners back then would be heavyweight champions now. I knew Mike pretty well from 85′ to 88′, we shared an apartment together in New York. He loved being champion, it was such a pride for him, what Cus always dreamed he would be doing. If he liked you, he’d put his arm around you. With friends he was very affectionate. Working with Mike was exciting, but the pressure was beyond enormous. For some reason, he never relaxed in a professional fight. He did it one time against Reggie Gross, where Mike was spectacular moving his head, and he only did that once in his 28 fights with us. In training he was a good 50, 60, 70 percent of his ability. In a real fight 20 percent, yet he blew out an entire best division in boxing right now. There was stuff he did in sparring that if Mike did in a fight, they’d outlaw boxing, that’s how vicious he was. If Cus was around and there was a DVD of all the fights and we just watched the action, Cus would not be impressed. He would be very unhappy because what he taught Mike to do was not what Mike did in the ring. Mike left us when he was 21 years old. I don’t know how much better he would have got. If he had become more relaxed, he would have gone from 20 to 30, 40, maybe 50 percent.”
